Orlando Family Law Mediation Lawyer

Mediation Offers Men A Strong Forum

When sensitive issues like time-sharing and parenting plans, child support and alimony, and division of property cannot be resolved upfront, there are paths forward without being forced to go to trial. Many divorce disputes — even those in which the parties have serious differences — can be resolved out of court through mediation.

Mediation offers both of you the benefit of legal counsel. Both of you meet with a neutral third party, a trained and certified mediator, with your attorneys at your sides and seek to work out the details of your divorce agreements.

It is vastly less expensive than litigation, far less adversarial, and the agreements are confidential and private, and the possibility of unpleasant surprises in the courtroom is eliminated. It allows you to come up with creative solutions that take into consideration your unique circumstances.

As a Florida Supreme Court-certified family law mediator, lawyer Mikaela Nix can help you come up with workable agreements acceptable to the court.

Florida Requires Mediation

The Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure require parties to a divorce to go to mediation both before temporary relief can be granted and before a final hearing (trial) can be held in the case. The judge has the power to waive the mediation requirements, but is generally reluctant to do so unless there are special or unusual circumstances.

Florida Supreme Court-Certified Family Law Mediator

As a mediator certified by the Supreme Court of Florida, we can prepare you for mediation the same way we prepare you for trial. We tell you what to expect, explain the strengths and weaknesses of your position and the outstanding issues, and discuss the best strategy to achieve your goals. We are by your side to ensure that your interests are represented and that agreements are fair.

When mediation cannot achieve your goals, Nix Law, P.A., is always prepared to represent you at trial.
